Why Insulate your boat?

Spray foam insulation is the prefered method of insulating boats.

It is applied to boats to keep in heat, reduce internal moisture, and ward off the ill effects of mould and rot. It can be used on any type of boat; pleasure crafts, sailboats, narrow boats, canal boats, barges, tugs, fishing boats, trawlers, cargo ships and also within certain boats where refrigeration is a concern.

Spray foam insulation is a superior alternative to other insulation materials such as fiberglass and rock wool which, when wet, loose all of their insulating properties.

It is easy and quick to apply, causes minimal disturbance and interruption of activities and tackles even the most difficult areas of any boat like crevices and small out of reach areas that could not be solved by other insulation products.

It is an extremely light material and will not add much additional weight to the craft. Spray foam insulation lasts a lifetime so there will never be the need to insulate again.

Because of this, less foam is needed to achieve the same results and is beneficial when the boats framing and or structural members are shallow.

Fishing trawlers can benefit from insulating with spray foam by reducing the loss of cold air in refrigeration and freezing units by reducing fuel consumption of the vessels by up to 40%. Also, it dramatically reduces the diesel consumed when heating the internal cabins.

By adequately and efficiently preventing the loss of cold air in these refrigerated units, you prevent the catch from spoiling, prolong the length of fishing trips and make it possible to increase the catch per trip benefiting both the vessel and the crew.
